Yoga Rocks

“I can change the world with my own two hands. Make it a better place with my own two hands. Make it a kinder place with my own two hands...I can make peace on earth with my own two hands. I can clean up the earth with my own two hands. I can reach out to you with my own two hands…I’m going to make it a brighter place with my own two hands. I’m going to make it a safer place with my own two hands. I’m going to help the human race with my own two hands”
Ben Harper, With My Own Two Hands

"I'll be the rain if you want me to be. Help you to grow with no guarantee."
Warren Haynes, I'll Be The One

Steven Ruby

Steve is a former attorney and registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 200 Level) and has been teaching since 2002. He has completed over 700 hours in teacher training programs, including, but not limited to, the teacher-training program at the Center For Yoga; the Level I and Level II Anusara Yoga® advanced studies teacher training programs at City Yoga; and the Level I Anusara Yoga teacher training, Teachers Immersion and Therapeutics Training programs with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. His own practice and teaching has been greatly influenced by John Friend, as well as such other certified Anusara Yoga teachers as Desiree Rumbaugh, Anthony Benenati, Naime Jezzeny, Sue Elkind and Noah Maze.

At present, Steve is legally licensed to call himself an Anusara-inspired yoga teacher™ and is working toward full certification with Anusara. Anusara Yoga is a unique system of hatha yoga, which integrates an alignment based methodology; an awareness of balancing the energetic flow throughout the body; and a heart-oriented, spiritually inspiring philosophy in the performance of the yoga postures. Balanced action and proper alignment, together with positive, life-affirming virtues, not only bring refinement and precision to each pose, allowing the student to safely deepen their practice and therapeutically create healing within, but also empowers the student to achieve their full potential and increase their self-esteem. He encourages his students to bring a sense of mindfulness to their bodies and attention to detail in their alignment in order to gracefully move into poses otherwise thought unattainable.

Through the study of yoga, Steve has become more in touch with both his physical body as well as his inner self. His love of yoga, and the benefits he has gained from its practice, has propelled him to want to learn more so that he cannot only continue to work on himself, both inside and out, but also share this auspicious knowledge with others. In 2004, Steve left the practice of law in order to devote his full attention to helping others by bringing the joy of yoga into their lives. Steve’s classes are fun, informative and designed to bring greater awareness to both your physical body as well as your true self.
